Preseason practice in April is only for swimmers 4½ years to 8th grade and is highly recommended for all new Gators. Returning Gators can also benefit from getting back into shape early and working with coaches in a smaller group setting before the regular season begins. Preseason includes a strong focus on stroke instruction.
Younger swimmers (4 1⁄2-7 year-olds) will have teachers in the water during the preseason weeks in April. New swimmers must be water safe before starting preseason. During the month of May, the coaches are explaining and guiding the four strokes. By the end of May all swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted in order to compete on the team.
During preseason, instructors will be in the water with younger swimmers. However, please ensure that younger swimmers are water safe before preseason begins. “Water safe” is defined as being able to dog paddle 5 yards to the side of the pool and willing to follow directions from instructor in the water or having completed Level 2 of Swim Lessons.

Program Fee*: Swimmers who are not Westgate Cabana Club members will be assessed a Program Fee for the privilege of using the pool. This provides insurance coverage for swimmers in addition to absorbing a portion of the cost for pool maintenance, chemicals, supplies, and other associated costs. These fees do not allow the use of the pool at any time other than swim team preseason practice. Join the Westgate Cabana Club and avoid the program fee..
